.... this carnivalesque is a samba encounteresque in the true spirit of a Mardi Gras. This months sizzling showdown sees us hosting , the best 3 Samba based bands from Glasgow to Brighton ready to bounce you from here to rio.

SambaYaBamba's repertoire of Brazilian percussion covers a variety of styles from Rio style Samba Batucada, Samba Reggae, Maracatu and other styles from the north east of Brasil through to contemporary interpretations with influences of Drum ‘n’ Bass, Hip Hop and Bhangra. The band continues to evolve, developing new ideas with original material and a unique style packed with an energy that leaves audiences in no doubt that they’ve experienced something very special indeed.

Carnival Collective is a dynamic group of musicians, dancers and artists who combine drum and bass, break-beat percussion, reggae, funk, house and other dance influences all played on traditional Brazilian instruments - with a hot horn section, funky dancers, guitars, bass, electronics and some innovative vocalists. Raising the temperature, the tempo and the volume !

Barulho, the innovative Brighton-based Bloco, will bring you the excitement of Brazil and its world-famous carnival.
Fusing modern and traditional drum rhythms, Barulho propel themselves into a musical style that is influenced by Brazilian samba. By giving it a unique twist, the band serve up an irresistible mixture of quality break beats, hip-hop, drum ‘n bass and Bhangra.The crew of 30+ percussionists have been captivating audiences since 2000 with music and movement. They convert their infectious rhythms and energy into a party that audiences just don’t want to end.

Yet again we are continuing to recreate another spring in the step mash up with all the trimmings of parading, masqurading and danicing to the salsa samba beat of the canrinvlesques drum. On top of this will be another dazziling mix of walkabout performers, electic djs, art installastions, cake and much much more. Not to mention our brand spanking new sound system which trailed at last months event.
